Pallas
Greek war goddess
Pallas is a name from Greek mythology belonging to several figures, most notably a Titan and a companion of Athena.
The goddess accidentally killed her friend Pallas and took the name as an honorific, hence "Pallas Athena." The name appears in classical references and astronomy—2 Pallas is one of the largest asteroids.
Pallas's cat is a small wild cat of Central Asia, named for the naturalist who described it.
