PAN

Indian tax code

A pan is typically a container with a flat bottom and low sides, but the word is used for other flat, usually shallow things, like a dust pan.

The verb pan has several meanings, all unrelated to the noun.

If you pan a place, you obtain minerals from it by washing them out of dirt.

If you pan a performance, you criticize it harshly.

If a camera pans, it moves horizontally.

If something pans out, it succeeds.
