Mylar

Reflective balloon material

Mylar is a trademark for a strong, thin polyester film developed by DuPont in the 1950s.

The material has exceptional tensile strength and serves as electrical insulation, reflective coating, and packaging.

It's used in everything from spacecraft thermal blankets to those shiny party balloons.

Mylar sheeting keeps the grow room reflective. (Lowercase mylar is the generic usage.)
