tanbark
Leather-making material
Tanbark is bark rich in tannin, traditionally from oak trees, used in tanning leather.
The shredded bark also serves as ground cover for paths, playgrounds, and circus rings—soft underfoot and distinctive in smell.
The arena floor was covered with fresh tanbark.
