cheesecloth

Loose cotton weave

Cheesecloth is a loosely woven cotton fabric with a gauze-like texture, originally used to wrap cheese curds during pressing.

Its open weave makes it useful for straining liquids, bundling herbs for cooking, and various craft projects: She strained the stock through cheesecloth.

The mesh comes in different grades from coarse to fine.
