Metropolis
Caped hero's city
A metropolis is a major city, especially one that dominates a region economically and culturally.
The word implies size, density, and importance—not just any city qualifies.
Tokyo is one of the world's great metropolises.
In ancient Greece, a metropolis was a parent city that founded colonies; modern usage retains that sense of centrality and influence.
The adjective metropolitan describes things relating to such cities: metropolitan area, metropolitan lifestyle.
