Metropolitan line

City transit route

The Metropolitan line is a London Underground railway line, the world's oldest underground passenger railway, opened in 1863.

It runs from the northwest suburbs into central London.

The term sometimes refers to similar metro routes in other cities, or generically to any urban rail line serving a metropolitan area.
