Manet

Édouard Manet was a nineteenth-century French painter whose work bridged Realism and Impressionism.

His paintings—notably *Olympia* and *Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe*—scandalized the art establishment with their bold brushwork and unconventional subjects.

Manet influenced the Impressionists though he never fully joined their movement, preferring to seek official recognition through the Salon.
