Edouard Manet

Édouard Manet (1832–1883) was a French painter whose work bridged Realism and Impressionism.

His paintings *Olympia* and *Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe* scandalized Paris with their frank depictions of modern life and unconventional technique.

Though he influenced the Impressionists and exhibited alongside them, Manet never fully embraced the movement, preferring darker palettes and sharper contrasts.
