Mahommed

Islamic faith's founder

Mahommed is an older English spelling of Muhammad, the prophet and founder of Islam.

The spelling reflects earlier European transliterations from Arabic and appears in historical texts, particularly from the 18th and 19th centuries: the religion of Mahommed.

Modern usage strongly favors Muhammad or Mohammed.
