Hydraulic culture chronicle

A lowrider is a car modified to ride very low to the ground, typically with hydraulic or airbag suspension that allows it to bounce or hop.

The style emerged from Chicano car culture in the American Southwest, where lowriders became expressions of cultural identity and artistic craftsmanship: He spent years restoring his grandfather's lowrider.

By extension, a lowrider is someone who drives or builds such cars.
