lowness

State of depression

Lowness is the quality of being low—in position, amount, intensity, or status.

Physical lowness describes something close to the ground: the lowness of the ceiling made him duck.

It applies to sounds that are deep in pitch, to prices or temperatures that are minimal, and to spirits that are depressed.

Lowness can also suggest baseness or vulgarity: the lowness of his conduct shocked everyone.
