Baldrick
Baldrick is a character from the British sitcom *Blackadder*, the dim-witted servant to Edmund Blackadder across multiple historical periods.
His name has become shorthand for a bumbling, filthy, or simple-minded underling.
A baldrick's cunning plan is a harebrained scheme doomed to fail—the character's catchphrase.
Originally, a baldrick (also baldric) was a belt worn over one shoulder to support a sword or bugle.
