Klimt

Golden art nouveau

Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter (1862–1918) who founded the Vienna Secession movement and became known for ornate, gold-leafed works blending symbolism with eroticism.

His most famous painting, *The Kiss*, depicts an embracing couple in elaborate robes.

As an adjective, Klimt-like or Klimtian describes art with similar decorative excess: The mural had a Klimt quality—all gold leaf and intertwined figures.
