Geppetto
Carved a son
Geppetto is the woodcarver in Carlo Collodi's 1883 story *Pinocchio* who creates a wooden puppet that magically comes to life.
The name has become shorthand for a creator figure—someone who builds or shapes something that takes on a life of its own: He was the Geppetto behind the startup, crafting it from nothing.
