Jumanji

Jumanji is the title of a 1981 picture book by Chris Van Allsburg and its 1995 film adaptation, about a magical board game that unleashes jungle chaos into the real world.

The word has come to describe any situation spiraling dangerously out of control: This party is turning into Jumanji.

The name suggests an exotic, vaguely African-sounding incantation, though it has no established meaning outside the fiction.
