Breaking Bad

Becoming a lawbreaker

Breaking Bad is an American television drama series (2008–2013) about a high school chemistry teacher who turns to manufacturing methamphetamine after a cancer diagnosis.

The title plays on the Southern American expression meaning to turn to crime or go wrong: He started breaking bad after his father died.

The show's cultural impact revived this regional phrase in mainstream usage.
