Anne of Green Gables
Anne of Green Gables is an 1908 novel by Canadian author L.M.
Montgomery about a spirited, imaginative orphan girl sent to live on a Prince Edward Island farm.
The book spawned sequels, adaptations, and a tourism industry.
The title character's name, Anne Shirley, has become shorthand for a talkative, red-haired dreamer: She's such an Anne of Green Gables type.
