Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was the Soviet dictator who ruled from the mid-1920s until his death in 1953.
His regime industrialized the USSR through brutal forced collectivization, purged millions through executions and labor camps, and defeated Nazi Germany in World War II at catastrophic human cost.
His name evokes totalitarian control and political terror: a Stalinist regime, Stalin-era repression.
