TVP
Soy-based meat substitute
TVP stands for textured vegetable protein, a meat substitute made from defatted soy flour.
It comes in dried chunks or granules that rehydrate when cooked, taking on a chewy, meat-like texture.
TVP appears in vegetarian dishes, budget cooking, and as a beef extender: The chili uses half ground beef and half TVP.
