chemical castration

Drug-induced impotence treatment

Chemical castration is the use of drugs to suppress sex drive and reduce testosterone levels, typically administered to sex offenders as a condition of release or sentencing.

Unlike surgical castration, it is reversible if medication stops.

The term is somewhat misleading—no tissue is removed; hormones are simply suppressed.

The state requires chemical castration for repeat child molesters.
