Bay Area chocolatier
Ghirardelli is an American chocolate company founded in San Francisco in 1852, one of the oldest continuously operating chocolate manufacturers in the United States.
The name appears on premium chocolate products sold in supermarkets and specialty stores: I picked up some Ghirardelli squares for the recipe.
Ghirardelli Square, the company's former factory site, is now a San Francisco landmark.
