George RR Martin
George R.
R.
Martin is an American author best known for *A Song of Ice and Fire*, the fantasy series adapted as HBO's *Game of Thrones*.
His name has become shorthand for epic fantasy marked by moral ambiguity, sudden character deaths, and notoriously slow publication pace: I've been waiting for the next book longer than George R. R. Martin's been writing it.
