Georges Braque

Georges Braque was a French painter who, alongside Picasso, founded Cubism in the early twentieth century.

His fractured still lifes and landscapes broke objects into geometric planes, revolutionizing how painting represents space and form.

Braque also pioneered collage, incorporating newspaper and wallpaper into his canvases: a Braque hanging in the museum's modern wing.
