weirwood

Pale religious tree

Weirwood is a fictional tree species in George R.R.

Martin's *A Song of Ice and Fire* novels and the television adaptation *Game of Thrones*.

These pale trees have white bark, blood-red leaves, and often feature carved faces on their trunks.

Weirwoods are sacred to followers of the Old Gods in the North of Westeros, and godswoods—sacred groves—typically center on a weirwood heart tree.

The trees are associated with greensight, ancient magic, and the mysterious Children of the Forest.
