Flemish
Dutch in Belgium
Flemish relates to Flanders, the Dutch-speaking northern region of Belgium, or to its people and language.
Flemish is closely related to Dutch, differing mainly in vocabulary and pronunciation.
The Flemish masters—Van Eyck, Rubens, Bruegel—defined a golden age of European painting: Flemish art is known for its meticulous detail. (Lowercase flemish is a nautical term for coiling rope.)
