Walloon
French-speaking Belgian group
Walloon refers to the French-speaking people of southern Belgium and adjacent parts of France, or their Romance language.
The Walloons are one of Belgium's two main cultural groups, alongside the Dutch-speaking Flemish.
As an adjective, Walloon describes things relating to this region or culture: the Walloon provinces, Walloon cuisine.
The language, closely related to French, survives mainly in rural areas.
