pralines

Sugary nut treats

Pralines are confections made with nuts and sugar.

The word covers two distinct treats: in French cooking and much of Europe, pralines are caramelized nuts or a paste made from them, used in chocolates and pastries.

In the American South, especially New Orleans, a praline is a creamy candy made with brown sugar, butter, and pecans: We bought pralines from a shop in the French Quarter.
