fish farming
Raising captive fish
Fish farming is the practice of raising fish commercially in controlled environments—ponds, tanks, or ocean enclosures—rather than catching them wild.
Also called aquaculture, though that term covers other aquatic organisms too.
Salmon, tilapia, and catfish are commonly farmed species.
Most of the salmon you buy at the grocery store comes from fish farming.
