Text entry technique
An input method is software that lets users enter text in a writing system their keyboard doesn't directly support.
Someone typing Chinese, Japanese, or Korean on a standard QWERTY keyboard uses an input method to convert keystrokes into characters: Switch your input method to type in Japanese.
Input methods may use phonetic transliteration, stroke-based entry, or predictive selection from candidate lists.
