Crystal Palace
Victorian glass exhibition
Crystal Palace refers to several things connected by the original: a massive iron-and-glass exhibition hall built in London for the 1851 Great Exhibition, later relocated to Sydenham Hill where it stood until destroyed by fire in 1936.
The name now most commonly identifies an English football club based in South London, near where the palace once stood: Crystal Palace are playing Arsenal this weekend.
The surrounding area retains the name as a London neighborhood.
