Mexican-American War

Texas annexation aftermath

The Mexican-American War was an armed conflict between the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848, triggered by disputes over Texas annexation and border claims.

The U.S. victory resulted in Mexico ceding vast territories—including present-day California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming—through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
