Coretta Scott King
Martin's activist widow
Coretta Scott King was an American civil rights leader and the wife of Martin Luther King Jr.
After his assassination in 1968, she continued advocating for racial equality and founded the King Center in Atlanta.
She expanded her activism to include women's rights, LGBTQ rights, and opposition to apartheid, becoming a prominent figure in her own right beyond her husband's legacy.
