Chupacabra
Latin American cryptid
A chupacabra is a creature from Latin American folklore said to attack livestock—especially goats—and drain their blood.
The name translates from Spanish as "goat-sucker." Reports emerged from Puerto Rico in the 1990s and spread through Mexico and the American Southwest.
Descriptions vary from reptilian humanoids to hairless canids.
The chupacabra occupies the same cultural space as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster—a cryptid whose existence remains unverified: They blamed the dead chickens on a chupacabra.
