butadiene
Synthetic rubber monomer
Butadiene is a colorless gas used primarily in manufacturing synthetic rubber and plastics.
The compound consists of four carbon atoms with two double bonds, making it highly reactive.
Most butadiene goes into producing tires, hoses, and other rubber products: Butadiene prices rose as tire demand increased.
