wormhole theory

Tunnel through spacetime idea

Wormhole theory is the hypothesis that shortcuts through spacetime could connect distant points in the universe—or even different universes.

The name comes from the image of a worm tunneling through an apple rather than crawling across its surface.

While Einstein's equations permit wormholes mathematically, no evidence confirms their existence, and they remain staples of science fiction: The ship traveled through a wormhole to reach the distant galaxy.
