wing back
Wide defensive player
A wing back is a defensive player in soccer who operates along the flanks, combining the duties of a fullback with attacking runs up the sideline.
The position requires stamina and versatility—defending when necessary, then pushing forward to support offensive play.
In furniture, a wing back (or wingback) is a high-backed chair with side panels that project forward, originally designed to shield the sitter from drafts: She settled into the leather wingback by the fire.
