interception
Catching someone's pass
Interception is the act of catching or seizing something in transit before it reaches its destination.
A defender makes an interception by catching a pass intended for the opponent: He threw three interceptions in the first half.
Intelligence agencies intercept communications.
To intercept someone is to stop them en route: She intercepted him in the hallway before the meeting.
