Ball-holding attacker
A target man is a tall, physically strong forward in soccer whose primary role is to receive long passes and hold the ball under pressure.
Rather than making runs behind defenders, the target man serves as a focal point for aerial balls, using his height to win headers and lay off passes to onrushing teammates: The team's tactics rely heavily on getting crosses to their target man.
