vesting schedule
Equity earning calendar
A vesting schedule is the timeline by which ownership rights become fully yours.
Most commonly used for employer stock options or retirement contributions: The company uses a four-year vesting schedule with a one-year cliff.
If you leave before vesting completes, you forfeit the unvested portion.
Schedules may vest gradually (graded) or all at once (cliff vesting).
