perimeter security
Outer edge defense
Perimeter security refers to measures protecting the outer boundary of a property, facility, or network.
Physical perimeter security includes fences, walls, guards, and surveillance cameras.
In computing, it means firewalls and other defenses at the network's edge: Their perimeter security failed to detect the intrusion.
The concept assumes a clear inside and outside—a model increasingly challenged by remote work and cloud computing.
