Unprocessed wheat seed
A wheatberry is a whole wheat kernel with only the inedible outer husk removed—the bran, germ, and endosperm intact.
Chewy and nutty when cooked, wheatberries appear in grain salads, pilafs, and health foods: I tossed wheatberries with roasted vegetables for lunch.
They're what gets milled into whole wheat flour.
