webhook

Automated HTTP callback

A webhook is an automated message sent from one application to another when a specific event occurs.

Unlike traditional APIs where you repeatedly check for updates, webhooks push data immediately when something happens: The payment processor sends a webhook when a transaction completes.

Developers use webhooks to connect services—triggering actions in one system based on events in another.
