DDoS

Overwhelm with requests

DDoS stands for distributed denial-of-service, a cyberattack that overwhelms a website or server with traffic from many sources simultaneously, making it inaccessible to legitimate users.

Unlike a simple denial-of-service attack from one source, a DDoS harnesses thousands of compromised computers (a botnet) to flood the target: The site went down after a massive DDoS attack.

Also used as a verb: Hackers DDoSed the gaming servers.
