upright row

Barbell to chin

An upright row is a weightlifting exercise where you pull a barbell or dumbbells straight up along your body from waist to chest height, elbows flaring outward and rising above the hands.

It targets the shoulders and upper back: I do upright rows on shoulder day.

The movement is controversial among trainers because it can stress the rotator cuff.
