umbilical hernia
Belly button bulge
An umbilical hernia is a bulge near the navel where tissue or part of the intestine protrudes through a weakness in the abdominal wall.
Common in newborns, it usually closes on its own within a few years.
Adults can develop them too, often requiring surgical repair: The doctor recommended watching the umbilical hernia before considering surgery.
