disc bulge
Vertebral cushion displacement
A disc bulge is a spinal condition where an intervertebral disc—the cushion between vertebrae—extends beyond its normal boundary, pressing outward but remaining intact.
Less severe than a herniated disc, a bulge may cause no symptoms or produce back pain and nerve compression: The MRI showed a disc bulge at L4-L5.
Also spelled disk bulge.
