turntablist
Scratching music performer
A turntablist is a DJ who uses turntables as musical instruments rather than simply playing records.
Through techniques like scratching, beat juggling, and mixing, turntablists create new sounds and compositions from existing recordings.
The practice emerged from hip-hop culture in the 1970s and 80s: The turntablist competed in the DMC World Championships.
