Backless upholstered seat
An ottoman is a cushioned footstool or low upholstered seat without a back or arms, often used in living rooms for resting feet or as extra seating.
The furniture piece typically accompanies an armchair or sofa: She put her feet up on the ottoman.
Some ottomans have hinged tops for storage. (Capitalized Ottoman refers to the Turkish empire or people.)
