tendinosis
Chronic tendon breakdown
Tendinosis is a degenerative condition of a tendon, characterized by chronic breakdown of collagen fibers without significant inflammation.
Unlike tendinitis, which involves acute inflammation, tendinosis develops gradually from repetitive strain or overuse: The MRI revealed tendinosis rather than a tear.
Common sites include the Achilles tendon, elbow, and rotator cuff.
